I Can't Remember How to Ski!! French fries? Pork chops?? Lemonade?! Pizza!!!

Yesterday we went skiing for the first time this year. Needless to say I couldn't remember much about how you do it. I knew that there was some kind of food that was supposed to help you remember how to slow down  but I couldn't think of it! So there I was, at the top of Mt. Abrams, forgetting how to stop or slow down. Of course, we had to start at the top and not on the bunny hill. Oh joy.

I did, thankfully, remember how to stop as we got going. It was actually a little bit scary going down the first time. I'm not exactly intermediate.... more like mediocre. But we all made it! And of course, what is a post without pictures?

No, that is not underwear in that tree. Oh... wait...

What a name for a trail, right? Fractured Fairy Tales. Makes me want to ski it right now.

Christmas Sunday Hairstyle

This year I decided to try a Taylor Swift inspired hair style from her song Love Story. The hairstyle is done with very curly hair so you will need to curl your hair in ringlets. Look here or here for tutorials. You could always use a curling iron too.

So this is how Taylor's looked:

And this is how mine looked:

Besides our hair being a different color and my skin not being flawless and not having a professional hair stylist and numerous other things including my 5 minutes of time in which to do this, I think I did pretty well. It took 19 bobbi-pins. :p
Here is a video tutorial on how to get the look. Hope you are successful if you decide to try this!

10 Reasons

Ten reasons why Emma is my best friend--

1. She has a good sense of humor and can find some reason to laugh even in a tough situation.

2. We can go anywhere together and still have fun.

Ok, well, not always
3. She loves to goof off, like me.

4. She goes along with a lot of my stupid ideas, just to see what will happen.
That particular idea turned out to be not so intense as anticipated.
5. She doesn't mind looking silly... as long as someone else is looking silly also.
Super attractive, right?
6. She's like, my second head we think so alike.
featuring my second head
7. We both love to ruin pictures, we can just never do it at the same time.

8. We have a knack for not thinking through the entire situation--that always makes it fun.

9. She probably wouldn't mind if I didn't get all the way to 10.

10. She knows how to have a good time but she can still be serious if the situation calls for it.

Thank you for being such an awesome friend Emma!! :) Please don't kill me for putting up these goofy pictures!

Come back!

You may wonder what I want to return. Truth is, I want summer back. I don't mind winter... but this? Com'on Maine! Scrape yourself together! How 'bout some snow?? Please? Not a ton, just enough to ski with--and some below-freezing-weather. I am so ready to ice skate.
So yeah, it's flexible. Summer come back or all that snow we had at Thanksgiving. -Thank You!-

Picture Mash

Ok, well, not a literal mash. More like an artistic, geometric arrangement. Anyway, Picnik has a pretty cool collage making section. You have WAY more options if you get a Premium account--you have to pay a monthly fee for that--but the free account can still be a lot of fun. Messing around with picture is always fun. I know there is a ton of photo-shopping software out there, but for people who enjoy playing with pictures and don't want to spend money on it, Picnik is pretty good.

One of my favorite things to do is arrange pictures into collages. So here are a few I put together.

I know I am in a lot of these, but I take a lot of self portraits, and I don't have many pictures of other people. Another thing you can do with Picnik that I love is make things neon. I have a whole post featuring edited photos but this is one of my favorite features.

A Pro-in-the-making

I have a baseball-crazy little brother and I just wanted to put up some funny pictures of him playing with a ball and glove in the yard.

Go Long! Oh wait, that's football. Never mind.

I think we've got a little victory dance going on here.
And then a serious pose to finish off with!

Easy Christmas Present

Here is an extremely easy Christmas present for classmates or even a little something extra for siblings!

Two candy sticks in traditional Christmas flavors tied with a Christmas themed ribbon. I got the candy sticks and Cracker Barrel for $0.20 each and a spool of ribbon at a craft store. I bought Peppermint, Cinnamon, and Clove for flavors, but you could pick whichever flavors you wanted. Easy gift for classmates? I say yes! :)

Here also is an awesome Christmas song that I just love!

DIY Vest-Scarf

Here is a cute and easy DIY for a comfortable vest/scarf! I got it from a blog called Behind the Seams. Enjoy!

You will need:

Scissors
measuring tape
about a yard of fabric, preferably one that doesn't fray when cut (I had a piece 38"x61" when completely unfolded)

Lay out your fabric. Fold it in half so that the short ends are together. Measure six inches in from the folded edge and six inches down from the top.

Starting at corner of the measurements (red dot above), cut a slit in the fabric eight inches down .
Make sure this stays parallel with the folded edge and doesn't go diagonal. Mine accidentally did and though it's not a big deal, I wish I had been more careful.

That way when you open up the fold you will have two arm holes that are symmetrical.

Viola! Now wear it with pride! You can wear it as a vest with or without a belt...

                    .....Or as a scarf!

Scarf started falling off at this point. Oops. Looks better in person. ;)
TIP: If you have wider shoulders, you may need to adjust the 6" to 8" or so.

This was a very cheap addition to my wardrobe. I got the fabric on sail at Joann's. Hopefully I will be able to get back in and get a different color.

Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland

Gone away is the bluebird, here to stay is the new bird. He sings a love song as we........ whoa whoa WHOA! This is not a cheesy song lyrics post (although maybe one of those soon! ;)

Finally, SNOW!!! I have been waiting for this. Sure, I love summer and all, but once you get to a certain point, it's just, ok... ready for snow now. But here it is!

Here are some pictures of my little siblings playing in the snow.

Snow maids

Sometimes, you just gotta do things the hard way

Snow was on pretty much everything. The house and trees were really pretty.

That's all I got! I'm planning on doing another DIY post soon!

Ta-Ta for now!
